Autoclave
Two types:
- Single-walled is used for liquids, culture media, and laboratories.
- Double walled is used for hospital especially for utensils, infectious
garbage and laboratory waste.
The sterilization program cycle can
include the pre-vacuum process cycle for the removal of air before heating
process.
The autoclave qualifies to sterilize:
- Wrapped, solid, hollow and porous items.
- Unwrapped, hollow instruments.
- Unwrapped, solid instruments.
Temperature setting can be between
121°C – 134 °C, adjustable. Electricity or live steam can be used as heating
source.
